On pourrait croire que ce phénomène se passe en haute atmosphère, ce qui parfois est le cas,
mais celui de cette photo se passe dans notre oeil à cause des cristaux de glaces en suspension
dans l'ai et qui diffractent la lumière du soleil sur un angle de 22 degrés. J'ai souvent observé
ce phénomène grâce aux brumes marines près du fleuve St-Laurent ou de la rivière Richelieu.

You might think that this phenomenon is happening in the upper atmosphere, which sometimes is the case,
but the one in this photo is happening in our eye because of the ice crystals suspended in the air and
which difract the sunlight on a 22 degree angle. I have often observed this phenomenon because of the
sea mist near the St. Lawrence River or the Richelieu River.
