Welcome to our gallery with pictures of picids, which are birds in the family Picidae: woodpeckers, wrynecks, and piculets. The scope of our site is global, currently with pictures of picids from Europe, the Americas, and South-East Asia. We also include pictures of woodpecker researchers in action in the field, pictures of picid habitats, and pictures of secondary cavity users (i.e. birds that breed or roost in woodpecker cavities or other tree hollows). Our pictures are of wild birds in their natural habitat, and are made with available light. The pictures on this site are available for use in presentations or conservation and education publications free of charge, and for magazines and books against a fee.
