Hello my name is john.I am trying to find someone who knew my grandfather his name was neil paul burke. I was very close to him and remember the story's he told about his days with the 66th.He was a staff sgt he passed away in dec of 1990 of cancer and would like to find some pictures of him then in training or boot.The reason is we had some but unfourtionly lost them in a move many years back.i am now 33 about to be 34 i have a four year old daughter who i would like to show who her greatgrandfather was.Any help in this would be greatly apprecated.i know he was on the lepoldville that night and floted on a peice of wood and saved a few guys.and other story's i do ask fro some help please.my phone number is732 540 2767.please my grandfather was born in nj and lived in cartert nj. please call or email with any info thank you john...johnvic13@aol.com

I served in G Co 262 Regt. 66th Div. After the war I received a hardback book in the mail recounting activities of the div during the war. It listed names of all who served along with Home Addresses which was 103 Newnan Ave East Point GA. It was something I had wanted to pass down to a grandson but now I can't locate it. If anyone knows of one for sale, I would very much like to hear from you.

My dad Joseph E. Montgomery was a member of Co M 262nd Inf which I gather was one of the three Regiments of the 66th Inf Div . I am trying to find out just exactly when he shipped out for England . His Discharge says 17 July 43 , but from what I understand the 66th did not ship out until 26 Nov 1944 for England . Is it possible that he would have shipped out 4 months before the rest of the 262nd? Would he have been in Minnesota until he shipped ? Anyone with knowledge please respond . My brother Sanford Baranow passed away a few months ago in Kokomo Indiana. H was a PFC attached to one of the artillery battalions with the 66th Infantry Division. He crossed the channel on Dec. 25, 1944 aboard an LST.

My grandfather passed today November 18th 2009. He won a purple heart while he was in france. He was lucky enough to be on the boat carrying the cargo and not the Leopoldville. I do not know how long he actually fought while in France before he was hit by shrapnel, but when he was discharge he was in an MP. He refused to tell us any stories about fighting over there. I've been very proud of him my whole life. His name was John Henry McVicker. If you would please pray for him. Thank you for your service for our country. We still appreciate it today.

My grandfather was with the 66th panther div.cornelius paul burke.
he passed in dec 1990. i was only 14 at the time but i rember very well the storys
of his ship that sank and the guys he saved.he told me many storeys.
i am now 32 and i tring to find someone who fought with my grandfather.I have a son now
and i do not want the memory of ww11 to fade or what my grandfather did sgt neil burke.
and the 66th panthers.

My father Francis W. Bennett served with the 66th during the war. He’s still alive and lives in Connecticut with Mom, his wife of sixty-four year. Dad never liked to talk about those days vey much but every so often he will. I’m very proud of him and all of the men and women who fought and died to give us the freedoms we enjoy today. I wish I would have known about this reunion, I would have made the trip to DC with Dad. If anyone knows of any events relating to the 66th in the near future please let me know. My fatherRobert McIntyre Pearce was a 2d Lt Artillery officer with the 66th Infantry Division assigned to St. Nazaire France from January 1945 through the middle of May 1945 before moving to the Koblenz, Germany area. He was with some of the artillery on a smaller boat behind the Leopoldville on December 24, 2005 and arrived in Cherbourg where he heard the radio blaring about the sinking. I wish that he had talked more about his experience other than to mention that he was assigned to a French company (all of the officers died in Vietnam) and how difficult the Germans were in surrendering their men and their equipment. He left my son (who trains at Camp Blanding where my father trained with many of the men from the 66th in the fall of 1944 before departing to England) the 9mm gun that he received from a German officer at the surrender and a pair of German binoculars that the surrendering officer had used. My husband and I are going to St. Nazaire on September 20th and Septemer 21. If you have any additional information please email me. My father died in the fall of 2004 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. He graduated from West Point on June 6,1944 and spent 30 years in the Army before reting at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
