Not being a big fan of crowds I opted to swat mosquitoes and watch Osprey during the Icelandic Festival in Gimli...the reward was to watch a chick fledge.
Started with same flapping (wingersizing) then more rapid flapping and she lifted from the nest. She then stopped flapping and dropped back down inside the nest. Couple minutes later doing the same thing.
Few minutes pass, she steps up to the edge of the nest...flap, flap and she is off and flying.
She made 4-5 circles around the nest before she came back and landed
.
Next morning she was found on a pole and continued to move from pole to pole and worked her way back to the nest site for a snack that dad had brought in.
All this time I thought there to be two chicks, surprise there is a third.
