Miller Springs Bridge, Bell County

This Small Warren Pony Truss Bridge is located inside a 260-acre park in Bell County, Texas, Near Lake Belton. It is about a mile inside the park, from the parking area, down a few overgrown trails. Built in 1930 by the Austin Brothers Company it replaced several earlier bridges. No longer accessible to vehicles, it had been preserved, added guardrails for pedestrian traffic and been designated a state historical site. On a personal note, this has been the farthest I have hiked to find a bridge. The park is very nice but the trails are very overgrown and not well marked, I got turned around several times before accidentally finding the bridge. Then after taking these pictures I tried to hike out on what I thought was a different trail back to the parking area, well it wasn’t and I got turned around several more times and had to climb my way out of a small canyon. By the time I got back to a road I had went completely in the opposite direction and found my self about as far away from my car as I could get. A mile hike to a corner store and bumming a ride back to my car, I finally made it. If you decide ever to go and find this bridge, I recommend getting a trail map and a GPS, they would have come in handy.
