B&W

I love black and white photos, although I don’t particularly like the “artsy” bias usually associated with it (i.e. they tend to be considered more "artistic", just because they are b&w, go figure...)

I just find them one more way to express a view on things.

Sometimes they are simply a by-product of something that would just not work in color.

Great gallery once again.. Black and white photos have such a unique appeal.. Something in them makes you search deeper into the photo as opposed to color which we sometimes take for granted or may feel is commonplace. I agree with you that color or balck/white can be artistic or not...

This is a powerful and inspiring gallery. I agree with your statement about B&W purists. I have a friend who thinks that black and white is much more valid artistically. To me, there are some subjects that really need the color they are associated with to evoke the necessary emotional response of the viewer. Sometimes, black and white better captures this. To each image its own medium...
