Our wonderful webmasters home site. Look at the wind drifts	Hemlocks with the white stuff on them in the back yard	The hemlocks in the back woods	Just love the snow in the hemlocks
Just love how snow can change the looks of the trees	Just love the shape of this little hemlock. Ya my wife trims it.	Enjoy them as we do through the winters	Just a little contrast with the trees and the shed
Even Becky's homestead gets snow, but no one clears the driveway	Grand kids toasting marshmallows	This is a view of Sunset Lake after the rain storm last nite	Just another view of the lake after the rain then freezing

Denise, don't know if this was the place, but there was a narrow driveway to the right of (looking at) the Busy Corner store. There were cottages down there across from Downings. Very tranquil, private compound. A friend had a camp down there in '62 Steve

this would have been the inn across from busy corner which is still there or the campgrounds that burned. The inn is still there its under another name an they do rent rooms did you rent a cottage or a room. the camp grounds had homes very close together an connie an Al owned the arcade and grama whitney the skating rink the 70s were great up there the old oak birch inn had movies an pizza its kind of dead now skating rink is condos an little shops. I still have a place there but its not like it was nothing to bring the people to the bay anymore only shiblys ice cream.

LOVE seeing pictures of the lake! My grandparents built a place in the 60's, now I take my children up to camp & they love it!! The view from our camp is amazing and waking up to the loons is great!

Denise, It is to bad you didn't leave a e-mail address that one could give you some suggestions. I believe you are talking about Alton Bay where the Busy Corners grocery store is located and the skating rink now is condo's. The Cristian conference center across from the skating rink took a big hit with a fire less than a year ago losing I believe 56 homes. The public beach is across the lake from the skating rink.

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I used to go to Alton Bay with my father when I was a young girl. Early 70's. I was trying to find out exactly where I stayed. I would love to go back there someday, but I need a point of destination as it was. Everyone that could tell me has passed away since. Here are a fe clues in which I hope will be helpful. There used to be a country store at the end of the drive way. There was also I believe a string of stores that went up in a major fire around this time. There was also a rollerskating rink to the left of the property if you were looking out towards the water. I was trying to find archives on either the rink or the fire, but can't find anything. If anyone had any such information to stear me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Those were some of my best memories. I also remember a beach across from the property we stayed at. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me sort this out. My hope is that it is still as beautiful as I remember!
