When the country evolved from a farming economy to an industrial economy people were afforded more leisure time. Summer folk were able to hop on the Old Colony line, switch to the Duxbury and Cohasset Railroad, get off at the Webster Place Station and take a horse and buggy to one of many fine hotels whose images are presented below. Of all the lodging places represented only the Fairview still exists although it is not the original building. Fairview was built in 1874. Called the Como Club during prohibition. Burned in 1998 and now rebuilt. Brant Rock House - built in 1874 and torn down in 1938. The Pioneer Cottage - built in 1861 became the Atlantic House in 1879 and burned in the OB fire of 1941. Peace Haven - built in 1903 and torn down in 1940s. The Churchill - built in 1866 and burned in 1909. The Ocean House - built in 1875 - became the bowling alley and movie theater - burned in 1973. Sears Hotel - Riverside Inn - Green Harbor - Marginal Street Albert Inn - Beach Street - also known as the Mabel Cottage Webster House - Careswell Street.............................
