Note the peeled bark as that is their strategy. Another piece protruding from the tree at head level is about to be pecked/flicked away. Its then that this woodpecker starts to look and peck for insects/larvae.

Fabulous capture. I tried for this species once (up north of me) but was not successful - darn because it's a beautiful bird.
