A female Wool Carder Bee gathers fibers. from a Lambs Ear Flower stem. She will take the ball of fibers and line the holes where she deposits one egg at a time. The males are much larger and very aggressive and a singular male will patrol his Lambs Ear plant to ensure no other flying insects other than females of his species partake. They are known to kill honey bees but I have yet to see that and they have been frequenting my yard for a few years now and this is likely due to the Lambs Ear flowers that play such an important role in their lives.
