A pair of Evening Grosbeaks have been visiting my yard intermitetntly for a few days now...very skitish ...I heard then saw the female two days ago then the male in the afternoon but did not have a camera with me both times ...today I had my gear with me when I noticed the male fly to a smoke bush beside a fountain in the garden. I got as close as I could with the 500 and managed a few hand held shots. The finch forecast looks pretty good for this Winter and hopefully this is a good sign as well...a Pine Sisken last weekend and now this species that I have only ever seen in my yard once before in the previous 10 years.
