Your work is an inspiration. I have been taking bird photos for about a year and a half now and have so much to learn. I have been following your work on Flickr. (I also post photos there.) I am wondering if you ever teach classes or workshops? I would love to meet you sometime.

These pictures are just beautiful - very talented buddy.
Hi Gary, I just noticed that your hit counter is at 999,936. I've been browsing around your fantastic photo galleries just now and may have given you your 1 millionth hit! No surprise that your galleries are so popular. You have lots of great photos and a nice variety. Love the squirrels gallery!
A lot of very nice pro images!
I sent you a PM
As part of my volunteer work I conduct an outreach program for Pacific Spirit Park Society, (www.pacificspiritparksociety.org - I'm also webmaster). One of the programs I do annually is called "Stories Along the Trail" where costumed volunteer actors tell a short piece of a longer story to the park visitors who come to the event. This year our story was "spirits of the forest" and the actors chose a character they wished to represent. One of the characters, a retired biology teacher, represented a pileated woodpecker,
About 300 people attended the event. I also had a volunteer video crew, and wish to post the videos on the website. The videographers did a really nice job, so I would love to add to the production value of this by having a real photo of the appropriate spirit "ghosting" across the the image as the video ends. So I would like to request use of your flying pileated woodpecker to use in a few seconds at the end of this video. (I would actually remove your background, and just use a cutout of the bird image)
I will include photo credits on the website, and a link to whatever website you would like.
Whow, I love this gallery , super !
Just tripped across your site/collection. Wonderful ! You must be extraordinarily patient...with a fine eye for location.
very much enjoyed the Jay Clown series. They'd make a great stamp series! Call Canada Post and give it a shot. We'd finally have some interesting "definitives" !

You've really built a fabulous gallery. I'm enjoy looking in from time to time. Your owl shots are my favorite. Always great to get inspired by your captures. All the best in 09.
There is some pretty slick stuff here Sir.
You should look in to a flickr account if you have not already.
Your photos are amazing. Congratulations!!!
Happy New Year Pawel
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Hey Gary! My Dad told me to check out your site. It's fantastic. Your pictures are beautiful and capture nature at it's best. I still have the picture of the yellow bird you gave me, I love it!
I hope you are doing well,
Hi Gary - your photos are beautiful. I am the process of making a website for my sister-in-law Pat Allen. She is an archeologist and her small consulting company is called Saw Whet. We were wondering if we could use one of your credited pictures of a Saw Whet for her site. Thanks so much, Moira Allen
My name is Zack Shore and I am currently going to Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay Ontario. While here at the School of Envirobmental and Natural Resoucre Sciences I am taking the Fish and Wildlife Technology course. I am doing a final project for my Ecosystems Skills class and I am doing a power point presentation on the Short-tailed Weasel. Your photo is amazing and I was wondering if I could use one of your photos you have on your site? I of course will cite them as your photos and take no credit for them at all. You can e mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org . Thank you for your time and i hope to hear from you soon.
I so love your pictures of all the birds you love so much. I have a few that I think you may like. I have the sweetest close-up of the White Throated Sparrow. And the White Crowned Sparrow as well.
Your bird pictures are something to behold. Have you had your pictures published in any nature magazines. Many would be great on greeting cards and calanders.
Your work is a great tribute to Nature. Congratulations.
Very Nice Modification to your Root Gallery..Really like your Slideshow, showcasing some of your fabulous images..Excellent..

Hi Gary, You have some great shots here! Excellent focus & DOP.
December 15, 2007 - Nothing like a cold Ottawa morning to get the action going at the feeders. Gary, I really enjoy your shots. I would like to improve my photo results and I'm wondering what kind of equipment you use. I never seem to be able to get close enuf for results like yours. I'm specifically curious about your lens or lenses used. Thx.
Great pictures. I don't have the patience for that kind of work, but I am glad you do! Keep up the good work.
As a birder, botanist, entomologist, and photographer, I have thoroughly enjoyed finding your galleries! Thanks so much for bringing us your glimpses.

Added you to my favorites,
I love how your work turns out!!
Love your photographs. Truly enjoyed the hummingbirds, butterflies and Phen in the grass. Amazing talent. Jeana Fairhead Holso
Many of us are photographing birds these days, but you stand out in your ability to capture behaviours so effectively. Your skill is definitely matched by your patience and persistence.
Thanks for sharing,
Beautiful Photo`s and Galleries
Amazing portfolio. Very colorful flower and diverse species of birds. Congrats for a job well done.
Enjoy your pictures.
Gary, your photography is truly well done. The GHO photography is of particular interest to me. The feeding photos taken a few weeks ago are truly exceptional. Nature photography is somewhat like fishing! It takes lots of patience and perseverance! You just never know when your going to get the big one!
You have some very nice pictures there. I especially like the Autumn, Blue Jay and the Winter Blues. I suggest the Pool image feels better to me right side up. Thanks for sharing your hard work with us...Yahemin
Beautiful pictures. It is so therapeutic and relaxing just watching the pictures. I applaud your talent!!
You have a lot of great photos...I really love the bird galleries!!!
Gary, I'm back again to see your galleries and once again I am impressed. Thanks for sharing all these great images...Kathy
First of all Thank you to Kathy McDevitt for taking the time to comment in my guestbook.
Lloyd Spitalnik: Thanks very much Lloyd and I appreciate you taking the time to identify any birds without names and those mis-identified. As soon as I have a moment I will make the necessary corrections ( are you sure thats not a Nashville Warbler ?). I will look into the Sibley Guide. I am presently using the Peterson, the Birds of Ontario, the Encyclopedia of North American birds and the Canadian guide to birds but another guide will only help.I consider myself lucky to have so many species in the yard but more and more I am in the field, especially for Warblers, Owls and Shore birds and raptors. Thanks again and all the best ( birds included) to you in the new year!
Lloyd & Sandy Spitalnik
Gary, it was fun going thru your bird galleries. You have lots of great pictures. I hope I didn't offend you in any way - after awhile I got the impression you knew most of the birds I was IDing. If you don't already have the Sibley Guide, I'd highly recommend it. You're lucky to be able to see birds from your house. We live in Manhattan and have an apartment list of about 10 species in 20 years. Hope you see lots of good birds and get lots of good pics in 2006.
Gary, I've been going through your galleries and have enjoyed your photographs. You have some really nice stuff here. Thanks....Kathy
