Ghost Towns

As time goes by, some towns grow and some towns decline, or become extinct.
This gallery visits ghost towns, the towns that were completely abandoned, and towns that still have old remains and reminders.

Bodie is a good example of a true ghost town. During its heydays Bodie had over 10,000 people.
Now it has none. When you visit Bodie, you see the remains of the buildings, but they are all empty.

Tombstone is an example of a small town with remains and reminders from the better days of the past.
In its heydays, Tombstone was a bustling pioneer’s town of 14,000 people. Nowadays its population is just about 1500.
But Tombstone still boasts today open shops, cafes, bars, and hotels with thriving business and life.

Finally, there are all the national, state, and local historic landmarks, which are the isolated remnants,
that are scattered here and there in our modern cities, towns, and along the highways.
