Welcome to Bodie State History Park. Bodie is the largest ghost town in the western United States.
It is located in California, east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
In its heydays, around 1880, Bodie had over 10,000 people and more than 2000 buildings. Today, the town is preserved in a state of “arrested decay”. That means that there are no buildings or roads reconstructions,
and everything is kept exactly at the time when the town’s inhabitants actually left.
When you visit Bodie, you are going via “time tunnel” into the fascinating bygone days, of the U.S gold rush times.
