20110210 - Blew It

...or even blue it. I've had my shiny new 10-stop filter for nearly two weeks (it was ordered back in October!!) and have been itching to try it out - but events and the weather have conspired against me.
So, I got a chance to go to the reservoir and give it a go. But it wasn't very windy, the clouds weren't moving very much, there's not much water so no real waves - and I over-cooked the exposure. Still, it looks kind of ok, for a first stab. Hmmm.

Argh - having just noticed the exif - I know why it blew!!! I used Av mode to get the exposure, then switched to Bulb to actually take the pic - the aperture wasn't set to the same thing on Bulb as is was on Av - D'oh!!! Must be a skoolboy 10-stop error - lol. Must remember to pay more attention in future!

LOL...we learn by our mistakes. As mistakes go, this turned out really good. Wish mine would do that!

You just do great, great work. Ridiculous consistency.

Full of milky goodness....I like it, can't see too much wrong with the exposure, or were you going for a darker, more dramatic effect??

My head hurts for you ;-) Will be fun and useful with a little trial and error.

Great shot though - I'm sure you'll persevere!

Could happen to us all ... and usually does. In either event this is still a good picture. I simply love this long shutter speed water effect. I have been meaning to get a powerful ND filter myself. Please do some more of these.

I like it Phillip....but you must have been doing something very important not to notice 505s passing....what were you up to????
