20080803 - Jervaulx Abbey

For the Achromatic August theme.

Hmmm, lots of pics today, not really happy with any of them. Much prefer it when I go out and take one, knowing it's 'right'...

Processing:
As yesterday, set the camera to b&w with red-filter & high contrast (+3). Polarising filter on the lens.
Added a bit more contrast to the clouds through the arch in PS.

Also today - had a bit of an explore-a-thon... a gatehouse being renovated, the door wasn't open so much as just not there... so I took that as an invitation :-)

And another from t'abbey...

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
1/125s f/8.0 at 17.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Tops Phillip! Super wide angle composition. Great detail, depth and contrast. So well done.
Doug Cruden04-Aug-2008 16:29
Super perspective on this, Philip - the angled PoV through the arch seems to emphasis the dramatic sky behind it. A top-drawer B&W subject. V.

Wow, that's awesome. The perspective is disconcerting (a good thing!), and the toning is spectacular.
