FYI there is still Air Philippines but it is marketed as Philippine Airlines. Airphil recently went on re branding from Airphil Express to PAL express then last year it became Philippine Airlines.

What happened to this thread ? No one interested in joining any longer ? There are good news for AirPhilExpress as it now is renamed. 20 new Airbusses within 4 years, a new website, new amenities i.e. booking service and a new livery. If that isn´t something to look forward to ! Fly high AirPhil and congrats after all troubles in the past.

Air Phils in, Air Phils out; what are taipan Tans´ plans for his lesser airline ?
Moody decisions don´t do any good for a stable commodity in the airline business.
Zest is the winner quadrupling their passenger numbers, eating them away from Air Phil.
Shame on you Mr Tan.....

it's good to hear that there will be newer airline to replace Air PHilippines..
Philippine Airlines is now serving CEB-DVO-CEB using an Airbus A340-300 aircrafts..
also PAL express Q400..i hope Air Phil will come back with newer aircraft..
i think they should upgrade their fleets like Boeing 767,777..Airbus A330,A321
to have a Philippines-Middle East flights..to make it more easier because available flights to the Middle east will be from Clark..it's difficult to reach that place though..

Air Philippines will finally end all operations this August 31...PAL will take over the DVO-CEB-DVO route and the rest of 2P's operations will be taken by PAL Express...sad to see Airphil go

I hope air philippines will have its flight in Bohol soon. Presently only two airliner serving the province, while it is known, one of the Tourist destination in the country.

Even thought I know the Air Philippines is Philippine Airlines Sister company, I can't feel PAL's help, its like they are treating Air Phils. as like an emergency tool material like during my vacation at Davao I reserved a ticket on PAL with a high class ticket but all the reservations got booked so they recommended me on Air Phils. I go there and luckily I got the promo they have I chose the highest class ticket although I know that Air Phils. is an economy airliner, as I checked in the terminal to my surprise they lead me to the Mabuhay First Class Lounge in waiting on my Air Phils. flight I got so confused on why they put me there. As I waited I saw 2 planes arriving, a PAL B737-300 and Air
Phils 737-200 this confused me even more, because I thought that they banned the 737 fleet years ago and now they are flying it? Whats wrong with PAL? And I dont really like PAL's idea about the Bombardier Q300 and Q400 to compete with CEB and Air Phils. causing to to delay the B777-300 deliveries.

I agree,sad to say that PAL doesnt have the heart to help its sister company Air Philippines.Its just a very small airline company compared to pal.PAL is a sister company killer.

Definately this airline will be downgraded due to PAL Express taking over their Bombardier aircraft. In my opinion the only chance to compete with refleeting CEB, SEAir and Asian Spirit (Zest) is to refleet themselves. As far as i know PAL has 4-5 A 320 options for next year, all reserved for Air Phil. Hopefully they will commence soon as this airline flies dead old 737-200s. Let´s hope and see what Mr. Tan decides for his PAL subsidary.

I am looking forward to see Bombardier Q400 operating in the Philippine Islands someday soon. The use of fuel efficient aircraft like the Q400 makes business sense; It is also quiet (Q means quiet by the way)

PAL Express is just the same of the Sunriser before, when they halt the operation of the sunriser in the 90s, provinces like ours - Misamis Occidental was greatly affected in all aspect - transpo, commerce and trade and tourism...and we are glad enough that its back,

Neil, My understanding is that PAL Express is taking over Air Philippines' bombardier aircraft & will be using them for the Cebu-Ozamis, Cebu-Cagayan de Oro, Cebu-Butuan, Cebu-Davao, Cebu-Zamboanga, etc flights.

I agree with you daniel,thats what I like with Air Philippines compared to Cebu Pacific's Airbus A-320&A-319.Air Philippines has a rare cancelled flight.I understand that its normal for an airline to have delayed dapratures&arrival,but with Air Philippines not so much compared to cebu pacific.

Their Boeing 737-200 has a wide leg room compared to Airbus A-320.Aside from their excellent ground&inflight service for them they give primary importance&emphasis on the safety of their passengers.The plane wont depart if the pilot deems that there seems to be a problem with the plane that needs to be corrected.Its better to be delayed than sorry right?Fly High Air Philippines!

With the arrival of Air Philippines' Bombardier Q300 turboprop aircraft starting November this year I think Baguio as well as other secondary airports in the PI will get some much needed service.
