Leaving Athens and sailing up through the Dardanelles we arrive at Istanbul (Constantinople).
The appraoch to Instanbul provide some fantastic views of the City.
The River Bosphorus stretches North to the Black Sea and divdes the city, and is also the boundary between Asia and Europe.
We head for the Old City (Sultanahmet) which is a walled city of seven hills and dates back to around 800 BC.
Visits to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace are awe inspiring.
Our day started of fine but soon turned to rain, followed by more rain,
in fact it rained for the rest of the day. However this is a fantastic City and I enjoyed every second,
unfortunately the Camera had to spend a lot of the time in the bag which obviously restricted the photo opportunities.
We arrived back on ship soaked to the skin but remained enthusiastic about this beautiful City.
Next stop: Santorini - Greece
