Avocet, American (Newborns)

A real surprise, seeing newborns this late. (August 14th)
These guy's were very samll (about 3-inches max)appeared to be newborns.

Their new long legs appeared to be a hindrance maneuvering around the rocks, they kept triping and falling down. Keith & Betty Evans also observed the chicks. The parents stayed very busy trying to keep the gulls away.

Hi Paul
This is great information. I'll need to check but this is probably the latest occurrence of a successful nest at GSL. Can you tell me which side of the causeway they were on - Farmington Bay side or Gilbert Bay side?

Cheers
