During this tour we will cover the basics of composition, lighting, depth of field and shutter speed priorities. There will also be an emphasis on street photography. We will explore what's involved both morally and aesthetically when shooting candid shots of both urban subjects and people. Aspects of photojournalism techniques will be covered as well.
Meet on the Washington Street side of the upper level of Portsmouth Square (Kearny & Clay), near the elevator. Public transportation: MUNI lines 1, 30, and 45.
At the meeting spot we will cover our primary photography lessons and then walk to various locations practicing what we've learned. Throughout the walking tour you will learn various historic facts and antectdotes about the surrounding area, as well discussing different photography techniques.
Your tour teacher, Patrick Herms, has been a photographer for 15 years, professional photographer for 8 years, and has lived and given tours in his favorite city San Francisco, for the past 10 years.
