In celebration of Eric's birthday, we went out to Anza-Borrego Desert. This was our 4th annual ride from Borrego Springs to the Salton Sea. In addition to the ride, there were tennis matches, hikes, a very happy Happy Hour and a tasty dinner at Carlee's with unparalled entertainment!
Several of us hiked into a slot canyon in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - The Slot of Borrego Mountain Wash. There are a few so called slot canyons in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, but the Slot of Borrego Mountain Wash is the most accessible. It was a short but steep decent into the beginning of The Slot. At the narrowest portion it is about a foot wide with boulders wedged between the walls towering above our heads. Owls and ravens have build their nests on the ledges of these walls. Once at the bottom of the wash, we hiked downstream through the meanders of the canyon.
Thanks to everyone for helping to celebrate Eric's birthday!
The pictures look great. Like everyone having fun. Man you really did try to kill yourselves by entering the steeps part of the slots. Ha! Next time look for a marker someone always leaves some type of marker on the path to help us non hikers.

It was our first trip out to Anza-borrego and it was an eye opener of how much more we have to explore in our beautiful state.
Thank you Sharon and Eric for inviting us. Wishing Eric many Happy Returns.
Much appreciation to the bikers that were there we enjoyed your hospitality.
