Yunnan French Railway Snaps

Temporary gallery of low-resolution small camera snaps mounted for members of The Oriental-List (see http://www.datasinica.com ). The narrow gauge railway from Kunming in Yunnan Province to Hanoi in Vietnam has been the subject of some debate, since Chinese railway staff at major stations routinely deny passenger travel is possible, while passenger trains are nevertheless seen departing, and staff at lesser stations let foreigners board them. The Chinese have boasted of their intentions to spend large sums on upgrading the line and making it part of a link from Singapore to Kunming. They haven't mentioned this to any of the staff on the line, however. These quick snaps (no art here, and no PhotoShopping) are of some of the surviving French-built (Italian engineers, local labour) structures, and of the line itself.
