York and Leeds

The historical walled city of York began as a Roman fortress above the River Ouse. The Emperor Constantine the Great was proclaimed Augustus here by his troop upon his father’s death in 306 AD. The York Minster is the seat of the Archdiocese of York, one of two archdioceses in the Church of England. In the 19th century, it became a railroad hub.
We stayed in nearby Leeds, the largest city in Yorkshire region. Our hotel is located in the redeveloped Granary Wharf district at the center of Leeds, on the bank of the historical Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
