National September 11 Memorial and World Trade Center

The World Trade Center site that was once known as Ground Zero after 9/11 has now sprouted a complex of new skyscrapers like a phoenix out of its ash, lead by the 1776 feet tall One WTC, commonly known as the Freedom Tower.
Although the Memorial Museum was not yet completed, the Memorial Plaza is now open to the public. Two twin reflecting pools sit on the footprints of the original WTC twin towers. Names of the nearly 3000 victims of the 1993 and 2001 attacks were engraved around these two pools. White oak trees were planted over the plaza to symbolize hope and renewal.
