Bedřich Smetana (1824-1884) is considered the father of Czech nationalist music
By expressing nationalism in music, he circumvented the Austrian ban on nationalistic writings.
His most famous work is the 6-part tone poem Má vlast ("My Country")
This statue is in front of the Smetana Museum on the bank of the Vltava (Moldau) River.
