This is the top right corner of a painting by an unknown artist. It was signed by the famous artist 鄒一桂 (Zou Yigui) to show his appreciation on the year 1752.
My great grandfather bought it from a pawn shop for 16 oz. of silver, which was equivalent to 4 years of living expense for an average family.
The folding damage was the result of concealing it from the rampaging Red Guards out to destroy all relics of the past during the “Cultural Revolution.”
My uncle now owns this painting.
