This 1893 Italian Renaissance Revival building on 3rd and Broadway in downtown L.A. was named after its developer and designed by George Wyman. Although its brick & sandstone exterior is unremarkable, its interior is a gem with warm natural illumination from skylights. Highlighting the soaring 5-floor atrium are elevators and stairs with ornate wrought-iron railings.
The building was used as sets in many movies and TV shows, most notably in the 1982 cult classic Blade Runner. Recently, it was the chase scene of CSI NY season 6 episode 22 “Point of View”. Currently, its upper floors are leased to the LAPD’s Internal Affair Division. Access for tourists is limited to one step below the second floor. |
