This is the largest Woodpecker in Sweden. Not easy to approach.
I had to play 'hide and seek' as I moved from tree to tree to get close enough for a shot.
The bird likes to work the bottom of trunks and actually was on the forest floor quite a bit.
I haven't seen too many shots of this species around so was quite please to have had a chance.
