A photo essay about the replacement of the almost 50-year-old Clyde Avenue bridge in Ottawa using rapid replacement technology. A small section of the Queensway (aka Highway 417) was shut down at 6 p.m. Saturday August 2, 2008 and reopened the next morning. This would have taken two construction seasons and cost more money if conventional methods had been used. The Clyde Avenue bridge was the second bridge in Canada to be replaced using the rapid replacement technology method.
