We travelled to Fiordland with 3 boats to Doubtfull Sound by crossing Lake Manapouri,
getting the boats transported over the Wilmot pass and down into Deep Cove. First day
we had intended to travel straight down the coast 40 klms to Dusky Sound but turned back
due to the rising wind and 6 metre swells. The next day with smoother water on the swells,
we headed South and spent 2 nights in and around Dusky Sound before heading back up to
Doubtful and exploring around that area. We had perfect weather - only one day of light
rain - and the scenery was spectacular. One of those must do experiences in a remote part
of the country!
