Please take a few moments to scan through the pages. This is a very personal collection of photos that I have taken since September 11, 2001. I still visit the site from time to time and photograph the progress at the site. I still can't believe the towers are gone and so many people were never found. - Pete

After all this time I still do not understand why they did this to us. To all of us. Do they not realize that they hurt their own as well? Hate is an ugly emotion, but i admit to feeling it as well as they did ans sadly still do.

I'm an internationally publisted commentator on www.google.com already and a native New Yorker from Manhattan and thank you for the WTC memories.
My own are that I spent my wedding day upon those WTC Towers proudly as a newly wedded bride with her new husband in 1981 -I wrote a poem as the anniversary of 9/11 is upon us once more.

Those twin beauties on NYC those towers did amass-

As we saw such violence being many a terrorist atrocity.
All people never found or died will never be in vain-

Pete -- I arrived at Ground Zero at 3:45pm on 9/11/01 with a group of firefighters and EMT's from Delaware. Most of us remained on site for 16 days, working from what was left of fire station #10. Yours is the most accurate, all inclusive photo document that I've seen of the event. A rare peak behind the battle lines that civilians never had the opportunity to see. I not only applaud you for your photo efforts, but your work as a GZ volunteer. Without you -- and people like you -- the FDNY, PAPD, NYPD and citizens of New York would have been alone in their tragedy. God bless. Lou

Hello Pete: Just found this site and I have to congratulate you on the chronicle that you've created. I was at ground zero on 9/15 and again on 9/22. I also have some incredible pictures that I would be more than happy to scan and send to you if you're interested. Just drop me an email and it'll be done. My most vivid memory of that 1st Saturday after the attack isn't seeing the facade of the WTC rising or the debris piled 10 stories up, but the police officer that I spoke to that day. He was standing on a corner, just staring down toward the rubble that was still burning at that point and telling me that his younger brother was in there. I think that day changed me forever.

Hello Pete, I am new to your site. I enjoy the photos very much. I think your pictures are very breathtaking and clear of every detail of what used to be the World Trade Center. I myself have just returned from New York after visiting for the very first time on December 22 (I'm originally from Virginia) and I begged my family to go over to see Ground Zero just before we leave. To my surprise, there was little to the imagination after all the cleanup. I did not see signs, or the American Flag or memorabilia of the victims anywhere. It was hard to tell that there was actually the real deal. I guess it's a lot harder when you're not from NY. My boyfriend and mother didn't think it was the actual site, that the taxi driver told us we were at. I've been examining my photos in comparison with yours and have reason to believe that it was the real deal. So thank you Pete for posting them. I really needed the proof. It's amazing those towers are gone now. I guess if I were to live in NY, I'd feel a much deeper impact. But just in general, the day is never forgotten. Passing by the site gave me an erie, spiritual kind of feeling.

An important record of the site; I only saw the WTC long before and well after 9/11. Visiting ground zero I couldn't visualise what it used to be like; this record fills in the blanks. I've literally not seen anything like it elsewhere. Thanks for sharing.

I had the honor of working at Ground Zero during the Christmas of 2001. My Site was 3 at the corner of Church & Liberty. It was such an experience and so rewarding that words cannot express. I can relate to your gallery for I've seen the horror myself. Lest we never forget. Thank you.

It was dificult to view these pictures. Brought back so many memories of sights, sounds, smells, and emotions that I guess had buried themselves in my inner mind. Great photo's once again Pete..Even though I could'nt get to "GROUND ZERO",I feel as though I've been there through your photo's..I would'nt have seen as much if I had gone there..It all still seems like a bad nightmare,as I'm sure it does for thousands of others,yourself included Pete..I think of you in that situation,and still can't believe it. So,we thank God for your safe return...God Bless you,and always keep you safe.
