Pillars of Light

Clarence-Rockland, Ontario

A dazzling display of the northern lights (aurora borealis) erupted on November 13th/14th. Even though it was considered a moderate geomagnetic storm (KP 6), it was one of the best light shows I have seen in years. I did have a tense moment, however, as anywhere from 5 to 8 coyotes closed in on me to about twenty five yards or so. They decided to take off, yelping all the way through the field back into the forest. Clarence-Rockland, Ontario.

This is amazing, really phenomenal. I wish I had seen them! Don't worry about the coyotes, they are curious animals and probably wondered what you were. They are more afraid of you... VV

Neat story! Were you really concerned the coyotes would attack you? I would love to see the aurora like this!

Awesome Bill!
I; however, am to far north to see them, in Thule.

WOW! Bill, that is some night-time experience. Next time bring some precaution. Great and beautiful image.I have never seen this first hand. 2:00AM, is that when you were up and encountered the Coyotes?
