I noticed this youngster on my way home perched very low on the shoulder of the road. I went home, got my camera and headed back. He was still in the same location and was concentrating so hard on the scurrying voles below that he completely ignored me. He swooped down and caught a vole, then flew about 15 feet away and landed on a pile of mulch dumped in a field. I was able to approach closely and after shooting several frames, I left it in peace to finish its meal.
