Northern Harrier (Male)

Northern Harrier (Male)

O'Toole Road, Orleans, Ontario

I was on my way to the Grebe pond this morning, when in a nearby field I noticed an ariel display of two Northern Harriers. I pulled over and noticed that a male and female Harrier were dive bombing a Wild Turkey that wandered to close to their nesting site (my theory). The turkey wandered closer to me and needless to say, so did the Harriers. The Turkey refused to leave even after loosing several feathers as the male actually got a grip two or three times. This was the most amazing interaction of wildlife I have seen so far...I didn't bother shooting any Grebes this morning after emptying an 8gb, 4gb and a little 1gb cf card on the Harriers :)

Nice shot of this harrier. That is some cool experience with the wild turkey and I would have done the same....staying with the harriers. Plenty of grebes to photograph with 3-4 nesting pairs :-)

SUPER flight and action shot Bill. I'm sure the Grebes will be there tomorrow.
