Badwater

Death Valley National Park view map

Down on my belly again to catch this view from the southern end of the Badwater
salt flats. I don't know know the exact elevation at this particular spot but a quick look
at a Goggle terrain map shows this spot to be about 220 feet below sea level. The rocks
on this playa do not "sail" like the rocks from Racetrack playa, most likely because of the
much lower elevation. The Racetrack playa is at about 3,700 feet and subject to more
deep freeze cycles. And there was much less water here than at the Racetrack.
