Fascinating! To satisfy my own curiosity, I dug around and found this: Species Physonota arizonae - Arizona Tortoise Beetle http://bugguide.net/node/view/80018/bgimage Try alsohttp://www.biol.uni.wroc.pl/cassidae/katalog%20internetowy/physonotaarizonae.htm but the image here looks nothing like yours or the ones on bugguide. Possibly due to its non-living state? Cheers.
