Hosta Birth	Foxglove	Peony	There is a fungus among us! A fungus called Gymnosporangium juniperi-virginianae causes this attractive cedar apple rust gall to appear on eastern redcedar trees (alternate host). The fungus overwinters inside these galls, then the orange jellylike "horns" (called telia) seen in the above photograph grow out of the gall in the spring and produce spores which may infect apple leaves to continue the life history of the fungus.

My dearest Rosanne: You have quite the "eye" for photography. Your true calling just might be as the photographic version of Georgia O'Keefe. Between the sweet babies and your yard, you seem to have a wealth of photographic possibilities. Next - is it possible that you could try photographing the furry family members a la William Wegman??? I've tried it with my two dachsies but they're too damned stubborn. Keep taking the photos, Rosanne. I LOVE SEEING THEM!!!!!!!
