A test of the Pbasic plug-in for direct loading to PBase via Lightroom-1.jpg
This photo was taken in Eugene, Oregon at sunset a few weeks ago. The real purpose here is to test the Pbasic upload plug-in. It works great, but unlike Jeffrey Friedl's plug-ins, you cannot be logged in to your account when you try to log-on or nothing will happen.
Another LR->PS CS4->LR workflow
As with yesterday's photo, after cropping and initial adjusting, we're going into Photoshop to apply High Pass on a smart object layer, using Overlay mode, then back into Lightroom for final tweaks and a post crop vignette, then export.
Lightroom->Photoshop->Lightroom
This daffodil image was adjusted in Lightroom, opened as a Smart Object in Photoshop where I duplicated the layer, applied the high pass filter at significant strength, and change the blending mode on the unfiltered image to overlay, then brought back into Lightroom where post-crop vignette was applied. This progression...Lightroom/Photoshop smart object/Lightroom...is becoming a typical workflow.
Japanese Maple in black and white
A color image taken at Portland's Japanese Garden in which I used a combination of Photoshop b/w filtration and a layer with the find edge filter to add interesting detail around the leaves.

Girls on the bus
I can scarcely believe what my local Ritz store did in processing this role of film. The surface looked as though it had been dragged across the floor beneath a broom. Perhaps it was.
After scanning it into Photoshop with the CanonScan 4000 US using VueScan's infrared scratch removal option, I put it through NeatImage. Then the fun began. After a curves adjustment to correct a color cast, I employed a process developed by Jorge Dias that uses the Topaz plug-in suite to minimalize the color and blur the background. I flattened all of Jorge's layers and faded them to 75% opacity to let a bit of the original color bleed through.
It's an attempt to emulate a style used by Seattle photographer Phil Borges, but in the end is a pale imitation of Phil's work, since he poses his portraits of indigenous using a flat, subtle lighting technique against a local landscape.

Taken from beneath a Japanese maple at Portland's Japanese Garden. There were minimal tonal adjustments in Lightroom 2. Otherwise, what I saw was what you get.

A view through a portal at Portland's Classical Chinese Garden. This garden covers a city block near downtown Portland, a place allowing quiet contemplation amidst the bussle of city life. The garden was built by Chinese artisans using material imported from mainland China.

Upper North Falls 1.jpg
An HDR image taken at Silver Falls State Park near Silverton, Oregon on August 22, 2008. Four RAW images were taken on a Canon 5d and combined in Essential HDR, a new program I am testing. Silver Falls is one of Oregon's most-loved state parks and its largest. The Trail of Ten Falls is a nine-mile loop that provides views of all ten falls and numerous rapids.

Bricks.tif
These glass bricks were placed years ago in the streets of Astoria, Oregon. They have cracked, weathered, and in some cases been patched over. The image was cropped in Lightroom and brought into Photoshop where I applied the Orton effect (available at atncentral.com.) As a final touch, I super sharpened the background image.
