Picture taken using the canon digital rebel and canon 400mm f5.6l, canon 200mm 2.8L, canon 100mm f2.8 macro or canon 50mm f1.8II. All pictures taken at the St. Augustine, Florida alligator farm. Wild birds nest here every spring.

Birds are much more resilient than people, they will bounce back much quicker. The alligator farm lost a few trees, but no major nesting trees from what I could tell.

Great pics! I hope to go to Florida someday, but not in hurricane season. Do you think it has affected the birds?

Thanks for adding the macaw pics. The blue and gold is Buddy and the green wing is Annie. Buddy is crazy!

these photos are outstanding. i hope to visit the allegator farm myself in 2005. i live in houston & went to visit high island rookery from end of 03-04 thru early 06-04. the nests are a little farther than these. there is lots of nesting going at high island also. i hope we can foster more & more sites so we can all see life in the making & the wonderful beauty of the birds. Thank you for posting these great photos.

I love this gallery. I work at the farm and enjoy these wonderful photos. I especially like to see the pictures of the animals that I work with.

Hi Paul, This gallery is pretty amazing and I love sharp bird pictures like this. Stumbled here in my search for 400/5.6 samples and I really hope my new lens can perform this well. Did you use a tripod for these shots or do you find the lens handholdable? Thanks/Anna

The alligator farm is great for this sort of photography, i had no idea i could get so close to nesting birds. Don't worry that you can't go, i live 45 minutes from the farm and have bought a photo pass, i plan to go atleast once a week until the chics have left the nest and will update this gallery with new pics every week, so keep checking. thanks
