I thought I'd try to look my best for this picture. I'm quite pleased with my debonair appearance. :) To see how I did the wide-angle aspect of this picture, look HERE.

Nikon Coolpix 5000
1/3s f/3.1 at 7.1mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small original auto

You crack me up Paul ... what a great sense of humor. Great idea to use that lense that way. Love it!

Paul,

A big fan of your work and the following you have created. Your work is superb. I really had to chuckle at this self portrait. If I were a plastic surgeon I'd be giving you a call. (joking of course)

Keep up the good work. You've inspired so many of us.

I'm glad you posted your method here. Madness sometimes needs explaining. It's not just the angle that makes it funny, but your facial expression is hilarious...It's a look like you KNOW this is going to be good! Nice job!

Hah! Very clever... the effect is awesome, I thought you'd used a fish-eye. Hmm, maybe I should be smashing lenses instead of burning circuit boards.

JD Anderson: This is actually my house. The guitars are mine. The mess is mine. A few years back I had a Sigma 28-200mm lens that broke (one screw on the inside came loose and jammed the gears and broke some internal parts) so I dismantled the lens and kept all the pieces. This picture was taken by laying one of the elements of the old lens over my little Nikon's lens, and shooting straight up into my face through that little lens element. It gives a very wide-angle view without me having to buy a wide-angle lens. :) So there is no mirror here, thus the lack of reflection showing the camera. :)

That is just too funny, Pablo!! :) How could you ever casually TALK to someone with a NOSE like that one without staring at it??! :) Cracks me uP! :) You should make this your cover picture! ;) Great job, again! :)

This is too much fun! I see guitars on the wall... Is this a security mirror in a music store? How do you get the shot without a reflection of the camera??? The greenish lighting adds the the caricature nature of the shot! Great job,
JD Anderson

You should send a copy to Disney for their next movie :)
