Geekbert, So what is it? Do you think organized religion claims the territory of Morality and ethics? That domain was originally the subject of the early Greek's such as Aristotle...as I am sure you already know. Am I theist? No. An atheist? Not either.

The point is that I am not an "IST" except you can call me an ART(IST). It is "not" that I and others do not believe in the possibility of some sort of higher power, it is that we do not live life through myth and legend as out guide...as though we are seeking salvation or a guide toward ambrosia. We are NOT born broken...For no one truly knows what is up in the universe except that the life we live (Miraculous as it is) and mysterious as it is...is happening and it will most likely continue on in one form or another. The not knowing...the wonder and ambiguous ontology of it all--is where I find spirituality. Not in the big Profit of organized religion of false iconic commodity. So if I may re-describe my self, you might say that I am not an atheist either--Just a non believer. If I were to read text about the dangers of religious practice, I would read about religious theory I'd look at other sourses or if I wanted to read about how fundamentaist practice damages our world I'd read something else--such non-fiction authors, Richard Dawkins "God Delusion", Sam Harris's "End of Faith" or Christopher Hitchens's "God is Not Great" and so on... All these books and others help those non believers "Come out of the Closet" as it were.

I would look at you blog concerning morality. I can try and find it or you can leave a link here. but you have to post it without the (.) by using the word "dot" instead and do not include http for I think the comment box is set up to deny hyper-links.

Rich says, "I don't know where you get your information from but it should be understood that by teaching false facts you are acting in a very immoral way."

Rich, are you a theist? If not, I find it curious that you would invoke morality as you have. I invite you to visit the main page and join our discussion on morality so you can explain how an atheist would justify his belief in moral facts.

For all those who want to "argue" with Rich, please read 1 Corinthians 2:14 again. Until his heart is ready, he will continue to be in denial of the truth.

And the secularist that you speak of are who? People who have a grasp on reality? The sectarian kind must be the idiots who think the the world is 6000 thousand years old...the same people who think we are descendants of Adam and Eve's inbreeding---only to be re Inbred by Noah's small group of 8. (at least in that other moronic book of Abram--the Qu'ran--there were at least 80 odd people to repopulate the earth.

Pangaea or Pangea means earth in ancient Greek. It is the theory that about 250 million years the continents were one land mass. And that since global plate tectonics is still at work the continent may bunch up again some 250 million years again. Continental drifting is not a theory but theory tries to put a date on things...for instance Vancouver Island moves about 4 inches closer to Washington state and British Columbia every year.

I don't know where you get your information from but it should be understood that by teaching false facts you are acting in a very immoral way. Not to mention the fact that you may need some help...

It looks like the idiot who made this ark is at it again. He is raising money to build a full size one this time. What a scam. He is making money of your idiotic old testament beliefs...he must need the work, huh.
Answers in Genesis 07-Oct-2008 20:41
Rich - if you're still out there: Pre-Flood earth (just like the secularists call Pangea) contained ONE LAND MASS., so yes, anything like a penguin if it existed back then (5-7,000 years ago according to Young Earth Theory) and a mastedon were instinctively directed by God to travel to the place where Noah was at the Ark.
The Continents did not break apart until after the worldwide Flood when the reservoirs within "the great deep" broke open from the earth's mantle and the vapor canopy that kept the earth at a constant, moderate temperature - the "floodgates" of the atmosphere came pouring down upon the earth. (Gen. 6: 11&12)
It isn't that academic to understand the science behind it. It takes more faith to believe evolution.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting the photos. What a magnificent vessel and labor of love.

Gary, you are right that in Genesis 7:2-3 God specified 2 of every unclean animal and 7 of every clean animal and bird (the original Hebrew phrase here implies "7 pairs" instead of "7"; see Genesis 7:15 for additional support for this idea). This would have been important probably because Noah, after coming out from the Ark, made sacrifices, for which only clean animals would be suitable. However, mankind did not eat meat before the Flood, so the abundance of clean animals was not a food issue. God allowed mankind to eat meat in Genesis 9:3, because the post-Flood world was destroyed so badly that it could no longer support an entirely vegetarian ecosystem (sadly). So, Noah did not have to worry about meat storage, either! It is good that the earth before the Flood had plenty of fruits and vegetables that Noah could store for his family and the animals to eat!

For those of you that do not beleive in the Bible, God, or Jesus Christ. How's that working for you?? For your sake you had better hope your beleife is right. As for me I beleive in what Jesus Christ did and the Bible. Rev. 22:12-13
Debbie 30-Sep-2008 12:07
Is this the ark that was used in that movie Evan Almighty?
Gary Lane 30-Sep-2008 06:23
Only two? Actually Genesis 7:2-3 states seven of every animal and two of every unclean animal i.e. those not eligible for sacrifices or eating. If only two of each were on board and Noah and his family ate fresh meat, well, the society of endangered or eliminated animals would be very irked with Noah. Space had to have been at a premium. Plenty of fertilizer, if Noah had food for all the animals. Gosh, food storage too! How to keep it long enough for survival, without freeze drying or refrigeration or canning.
Amy 30-Sep-2008 03:47
I'd just like to say for all those non-believers who think yea right, I just want to let you know that that is exactly what all the non-believers in Noah's time thought.......then it started raining! LOL!!! Bet they weren't thinking "yea right" then!
Lesia 28-Sep-2008 02:22
Seems like this is more than big enough to hold two of all animals -- especially if they were young ones. The Bible never said they were full grown -- I think that they were babies or very young....Less space required, less food required, less waste. Just a thought. One way or another, God did it!
Tiffany Garcia 27-Sep-2008 17:40
As a baby Christian, this only maganifies my beliefs even more. God is truly amazing and always Faithful and right on time. I love God and He loves ME. For Noah to building this amazing ark out of obedience of the directives of God; How proud God must have been!!! BE BLESSED in everything that you do!!!

Before all you doubters get your knickers in a knot - the boat was built to scale but is as noted on the site 1/2 the length and 1/3 the width of the dimensions noted in Genesis - it is not full scale - if it was built full scale it would be twice as big and there wouldn't be any trees left in Holland! Please! Calm down.

I am a building contractor and a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Having worked with wood in the building business for the last 30 years, I can really appreciate what you have accomplished here. Rich, I was just like you for the first 28 years of my life. Then I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior and everything changed. If you will check out the Bible and its record on fulfillment of prophecy you will be amazed. You don't have to understand everything, just believe it! YOU CAN TRULY LIVE IN PEACE WITHOUT FEAR OF DEATH!
ToniLovesTheLord 25-Sep-2008 20:05
How wonderful it is to know that some people in this world are getting the truth and are firm believers in our LORD CHRIST JESUS PRASIE HIM AND ALL HIS GLORY. I would love someday to visit and take all this beauty in on my own!
lordsydney 10-Sep-2008 10:51
@ Rich: First: Pre flood world wasn't that old so the animals at creation hadn't gone far , Second: and the water that came from "the Heavens"(biblical) made temperatures same all over the world(before it fell(water that is)). so penguins could live in Iraq and so on. Noah didn't take the fish on the ark, any animal that could survive in water wasn't off on the ark . Believe the Bible when it says __ALL__ the animals it means __ALL__.
Guest 28-Aug-2008 05:29
You all need to check out Ron Wyatt on the internet. He found remnants of the ark in Turkey ("the mountains of Arrat") It is so cool. Especially you unbelievers. God Bless!
Ema 27-Aug-2008 18:42
How can there still be unbelievers in this world. Thank You God for how awesome You are.
Sheila 12-Aug-2008 17:05
All I can say is WOW!!! I admire someone who can take the time & engenuity to do something like this & of this scale. Too bad it couldn't sail to the US to take a tour. I think they would have a huge fan base of admirers over here, including me!
Jeff 06-Aug-2008 02:54
Rob. every kind and every animal are 2 different things. Keep searching and praying and God will help you! I can explain everything here but will take to long. If you have the right heart condition you will find your answer. PRAY to God about it!
Rob Cornelius 05-Aug-2008 06:40
strange. how could two of every animal in existence fit on that boat.
Vern 03-Aug-2008 17:18
I wish I personally knew someone like Gene in Hanahan SC. Last night I caught a raccoon that had been causing destruction and making messes around my neighbors' and my houses. If I knew Gene, I'd turn it loose in his yard.
Gene in Hanahan SC 28-Jul-2008 19:01
Awe inspiring. Lets do something to ensure that we don't lose all the animals that Noah saved from the flood.
Ross, Auckland NZ 27-Jul-2008 02:32
I too understand the appropriate description in the Bible and appreciate how someone can dedicate their time and ingenuity to this almost completed Display. It will allow the fortunate folk who are able to visit, to visualise what may have been the wish of Noah. How many folk in his area may have preferred to have had a group of new cottages / homes constructed for homeless folk? The Lord would wish all to be protected from the ravages of the weather. Great piece of construction.
Patricia 25-Jul-2008 23:56
This is most interesting. Thank you for your time in building something so BEAUTIFUL. The Lord would be well pleased with you. I just wish it was in my neck of the woods ( so to speak ). I would like to tour it myself.

Ok Rich, so you dont believe and you cant see how it was done, or how all the animals got to the Ark from all over the world. Tell me how you feel about the fact that you came from a single microscopic sperm and egg. It's called a miracle my friend. A, act of R, random K, kindness (maybe that will explain to you how it all happens...
Guest 25-Jul-2008 17:41
Wow! Rich hasn't done any research on the pre-flood earth, eh?
It's great to check the facts, then you will have a better understanding. Faith is based on evidence and not blind credulity.

Rich just has the unreasoning skeptic disease: Do your research so you understand that he didn't have to travel to the North/South Pole to collect animals.

Hey Rich, just b/c u don't believe it doesn't make it untrue. For example, I don't believe u could be so blind as to not see that Biblical history is evident. I feel sorry for you man, and I'm praying for you. The sad truth is, you will believe when it's too late to do anything about it.

Oh ye of little faith...

Don't you realize with God all things are possible? (phil 4:13)

Accept, believe, and you will be given wisdom to understand.

Great, a tribute to the most ridiculous story in the bible. Lets get this straight, an 800 year old man, builds a boat the size of the titanic...out of wood. Then animals travel from all of the world? That means penguins and polar bears traveled across Africa to get to Iraq wear it supposedly took off from! Go ahead and stop me when it starts to get unbelievable.
Rodger Ramocan 16-Jul-2008 20:47
This is awesome, thank god for giving you all that it took to recreate this glorious wonder. I pray that God will use it for his glory, and many soul will be saved as your ark ministers to them of the mercy of our mighty God.
Rodger.

Christians of this era don't have many icons to look up to and truly admire. You are truly someone for Christians to behold and to thank God for. Thank you for your open demonstration of your faith. You have done more for the world than all the politicians, movie stars and professional athletes throughout history.

Wonderful talent. For those who don't know . there is a Musical 'Noah" in Branson Mo. The last half of it is designed so the audience can feel like they are in the ark. This replica is a great work of a talent God gave the creator in Holland.

What a ridiculous waste of time and money. Seriously how many people, animals and more importantly supplies could you honestly put in that and expect to survive for more than a few days. Was truly amazing how "noah" managed to save all those rare australian animals and then delivered them across the world. clap clap

Would love to see it, maybe some day. Just seeing the replica brings new meaning to the story of Noah's Ark.
Kat 27-Jun-2008 16:05
It is probably in the black thing because he did not want the wood to get water logged. Noah's Ark was only meant to last as long as God needed it to. This very nice one is meant to last for years and years to come.
Ruby 23-Jun-2008 02:41
God is so good,he's so good to me
Kyla 18-Jun-2008 18:32
Why is it in that black thing? Can't it float on it's own? I heard that the ark was built in such a way so that it could not tip. But it is a masterpeice, none the less. Praise God. I'm excited to meet Noah in heaven.
