Experienced & Trained to Capture Opportune Moments, Mood and Essence in Your Photos!
International Experience:
I am a professional photographer with international experience – I was the official photographer for a British book company (EBA) and was sent to different nations to capture opportune moments of people-oriented photos. One of my responsibilities was to catch the unique essence of each different ethnic group which will portray their personality and reflect their cultural identity in the photos. Other interesting and challenging assignments include event-photography -- capturing book launches which were held in different countries; assigned to photograph scenic views, artistic shoots, etc.
I was also a press photographer with a prominent English newspaper, the Star in Malaysia before I became a freelance photographer.
England Trained:
I studied at Portsmouth College of Art and Design in England. There, I studied Graphic Design majoring in photography. This course has broadened my scope of understanding of the various forms of communication besides photography. In photography it was divided into different fields which include studio photography. For the thesis, I wrote on photojournalism.
Apprenticeship Learning:
When I was twelve years old my interest in photography grew, which was first ‘caught’ and learnt as an apprentice from my father who was a serious amateur photographer. At twelve I have learnt to use my father’s German made Contax camera, Zeiss and Nikkor lenses, hand-held exposure meter, learnt to manipulate apperture settings to create appropriate depth-of-field, manipulate shutter speeds, the art of composition, etc. My brother and I would learn tips on photography eagerly from our tutor – our very own mentor and father. At thirteen I learnt to develop films, print photographs, learnt the art of retouching photos in the darkroom (today I use computer software for this), to create the sense of balance, to eliminate distraction, etc. And so the story continues till this day –
Why Complete Sets of Photos Displayed and Not Just a Few Samples?:
Below is my portfolio of photos. As you browse through the contents you will realise I do not just show a few samples of photos for each assignment shoot, but the whole set that I would give to my clients (except for a few that has repeated similarity like wedding shoots I would condense it into a nutshell of 100 or so photos, but I have more than two sets that are complete). This is to show you the consistency in composition quality, photography techniques, colour tone quality with good to acceptable white balance, etc. throughout, hence you will have a much better assessment and assurance when you engage me to shoot for you.
I provide indoors, outdoors and on site studio photography.
