The 11,236,317,225th iteration of this picture (although it is the first time I have ever shot it). It is a view of Bernini's Collonade from the cupola atop the dome of St. Peter's Basilica. The obelisk in the center serves as a giant sundial marking the passing of the seasons. St. Peter's Square is the site of every important public papal event. The twin collonades were intended by Bernini to represent the arms of Mother Church enfolding her flock.
