Stratford-Upon-Avon, England

This photo, made on May 3, shows Shakespeare's grave covered in flowers. Normally the grave, set in the floor just in front of the high altar, is visible complete with its inscription, "GOOD FREND FOR IESUS SAKE FORBEARE, TO DIGG THE DVST ENCLOASED HEARE. BLESTE BE YE MAN YT SPARES THES STONES, AND CVRST BE HE YT MOVES MY BONES." It is said that the inscription served to squelch numerous initiatives to move Shakespeare's body to Westminster Abbey. Baptismal and burial records housed in the church show that Shakespeare was baptised on April 26, 1564 and died on April 23, 1616 at the age of 52. The flowers that you see in this photo had been placed just 10 days earlier to mark the 395th anniversary of his death.
