Like most cathedrals, Liverpool Cathedral dominates the skyline of the city. The cathedral was begun in 1904 and wasn't completed until 1978. The design is that of a then 22-year old student named Giles Gilbert Scott, who won a competition of more than 100 competing architects. Scott is also known for another famous design: that of the signature red British telephone booth.
