The Romans founded Chester as Deva Victrix in the 70s AD. It is one of the best examples of a Roman walled city in all of the United Kingdom. Apart from a 330 foot section, the walls stand otherwise almost totally intact. Chester Cathedral, Eastgate Clock and the ancient Roman amphitheater are among the things to see.
