Barn Swallows

Barn Swallows built a nest about a foot above the door of the womens' rest room at the Police Satellite Station. A water fountain is just a another step away, so there is lots of human activity in the immediate area. Most people are completely unaware of the nest, despite lots of chirping. My first four digiscopes were taken on July 4 and I added more on July 8 and 9. The young of this species fledges from the nest about three weeks or more after hatching.

There are recently fledged Barn Swallows from another nest at the park. They are still being fed by parents. The birds photographed on July 8 were near a large storm drainpipe which empties into the lake. Perhaps their nest was located inside this pipe.
