Top of the day to you and thanks for the visit. I am a retired geographer (geographic information systems/mapping/aerial imagery applications) who lives in the southern USA. Photography training began at Brooks Institute of Photography, Santa Barbara, California. Their thrust was commercial applications using 4x5 cameras as well as medium and 35MM formats. My first worthy photographs were taken throughout the west with the Calumet 4x5, Black and white, mostly Tri-X film and 2 1/4 format Mamiya C-33.
These cameras and the required darkroom were retired after the acquisition of a Canon-20D, EFS 17-85 lens, in 2005. Natural history subject matter is my first love, with some dabbling in cultural settings, primarily architectural.
More importantly, my current purpose and pleasure is to create images that please my friends and colleagues such as you. If the photographs at times fall within the realm of "Fine Art" my ego is stroked. But your judgment is of a higher order. Please feel free to take a glance at the galleries and stay awhile if time or interest allows. If pleased, it would be a pleasure hearing from you.
Most Grateful-Paul Davis
