2007.10.03 near the end

Farewell Spit, New Zealand

[Update 2007.10.14: Ade has posted a strong interpretation of this in his very moody Stories in Black and White album.]

* * * * *

Well, I'm back from New Zealand. (South Island, North of Christchurch, only.) Now I don't know whether to process New Zealand shots or Iceland shots ...

The only thing I had decided about this short visit, before I went, was that I would go on a tour to Farewell Spit. It was well worth the effort.

Thanks to Ade for bringing me here... -- just perfect in its subtlety and depth... (V)

Yes, nearly 6pm, at the end of the tour. The time of the tour depends on the tides, so when I was planning this I was rather pleased to see that the trip would include the late afternoon. And in fact it was dark by the time we got back to Collingwood.

Carrie said "Wow! Very nice!"

Sand creases are really hard to capture, in my experience. Is this, like, 6am or 6pm... to get the shadows? Anyway, superb shot.

This is a truly remarkable image.The subtle clouds the duned landscapes.But most of all its an escape that screams solitude.Weve all been here.The way the head is bowed for me makes the image.Sheer perfection.Without a doubt one of the finest images ive ever seen.
