I don't think they can have intended to buy this much rice when they set out without a shopping cart. And I suspect the lady on the left is trying to figure out whether it's worth going to look for some herself.

Yes I could imagine their struggle with the extra weight carried. The woman's expression at the left is priceless, brilliantly captured! The one after her probably decided to give it a pass :-)
